Lets do a little non-biased comparing.....

I'm on a mission!! I've been hearing so many stories about voter fraud and threats that I wanted to really break it down and see who is doing what.

Is this voter fraud taking place in favor of Obama or Romney? To be honest...I'm sure it's on both sides...but in what category does the majority fall? What about the threats? Are there more threats if Obama wins or Romney?

I want this to be fair so I'm looking at both sides and I'll post headlines/links to everything I find tonight regardless of party. If you find something please post it in the comments and I'm going to do the same. So make sure if and when you read this blog to look at the comments.

The Military and their vote

Our Military should be our pride and joy. They lay their lives down for us to have the freedom to exist everyday and some even use that freedom to spit on our flag. If you ask them, they may be offended or hurt by how they are treated or taken for granted, but I dare say that they'd be quick to tell you that they wouldn't change it. They'd continue to do it for their families and ours. So please explain to me why these men and women are having their votes discounted, discouraged and discriminated against? These men and women who sacrifice so much to give us the priviledge to excercise our freedom and right to vote??

I'm going to give you some links below with snippets from each to show how our Military is being disenfranchised.

Is the Obama administration suppressing the military vote?
 http://www.humanevents.com/2012/09/27/is-the-obama-administration-suppressing-the-military-vote/,
The Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act was enacted in 2009 as part of the defense authorization bill to counter the apparent barriers to military voting. It required blank absentee ballots to be sent to service members who requested them at least 45 days before an election and called for the creation of dedicated voting assistance offices on every non-deployed military installation.

But while these offices were dutifully set up at many installations, early numbers suggest they are ineffective, and a recent Inspector General investigation found that representatives in those offices are, up to half the time, unreachable or unresponsive.

In a Sept. 13 hearing of the House Armed Services Committee’s subcommittee on military personnel to discuss the Inspector General report, Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) suggested the problem lay with Obama administration priorities.

“It seems to me that the DoD made sure that they got the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell surveys (determining the effects of a repeal) to every member of the military, to every spouse, to everybody that they were supposed to,” he said. “But when it comes to military voting, it seems that we’re not able to get the absentee ballots to our soldiers…it seems to me that there’s a different standard there when it comes to voting versus a survey that the DoD or the administration actually wanted a response to.”

Rasmussen poll conducted in July found that Romney leads Obama 59 percent to 35 percent for Obama among likely voters with military service.

Obama Campaign Sues to Restrict Military Voting
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/08/02/obama-campaign-sues-to-restrict-military-voting
President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?
On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."
Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis," I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.
The National Defense Committee reports:
[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.
I think it's unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.
If anyone proposes legislation to combat voter fraud, Democrats will loudly scream that the proposal could "disenfranchise" some voter, somewhere. We must ensure, they argue, that voting is easy and accessible to every single voter. Every voter, that is, except the men and women of our military.
Make no mistake, the Democrat lawsuit is intended to disenfranchise some unknown number of military voters. The judge should reject it with prejudice.

Military Voting Rights Under Fire in Ohio
http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/314434/military-voting-rights-under-fire-ohio-john-fund#
Lawyers for the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee marched into federal court last week to argue that it is unconstitutional for Ohio to allow military voters to cast in-person early ballots on the Saturday through Monday before Election Day, given that early voting for all other voters stops on the Friday before Election Day

This article goes into the argument that was presented and it will absolutely make your blood boil. The ruling that came down allowed EVERYONE to vote early.....no special treatment for Military. Exactly what Obama wanted. Ohio is a BIG state in this election.

Wisconsin absentee ballots for military voters sent after deadline
http://www.humanevents.com/2012/10/02/wisconsin-absentee-ballots-for-military-voters-sent-after-deadline/
If you are a member of the U.S. military on deployment, and you hail from the state of Wisconsin, please know that you have the heartfelt thanks of every patriotic American for your service… but you might not be able to vote in the 2012 election.

That’s because, as reported by the MacIver Institute, “At least 30 Wisconsin municipalities failed to send absentee ballots to military voters before the 45 day deadline, according to former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Anthony Principi, and he’s demanding the Government Accountability Board address the problem immediately.”

The deadline was calculated using the estimated length of time required to send, complete, and return absentee ballots. This creates a strong risk that military ballots won’t be returned in time to be counted in the election. The deadline was not an idle suggestion – it’s part of the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voter Act.

The article goes on to state that they were told in order to extend the deadline so that these votes could be counted it would require a court order. I'd like to know if that court order was persued.

WISCONSIN’S GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY BOARD WON’T EXTEND DEADLINE FOR MILITARY VOTERS

Treason, High Treason or just a Bump in the Road

Before you start reading I want to warn you this post is legnthy. I have compiled some very important news stories and links. Normally I would just post a headline and link or a few snippets from each story but I felt like most of these stories needed to be posted in their entirety.

I no longer recognize this country we live in, and I don't understand why there is no outrage. Why are there no calls for impeachment? This makes the Monica Lewinksy scandal and Watergate look like a minor playground scuffle.

Please take the time to read or skim through the articles I've posted and think about the term "treason" and what it means. I have posted a definition below....you decide if it fits. As for me....I'm loosing faith and hope in what used to be my America.

Treason is defined as follows....

1. Betrayal of country: a violation of the allegiance owed by somebody to his or her own country, e.g. by aiding an enemy.

2. Treachery: betrayal or disloyalty

3. Act of betrayal: an act of betrayal or disloyalty

High Treason is defined as follows....

Treason against homeland: treason perpetrated by somebody against his or her own country

EXCLUSIVE: CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/26/cia-operators-were-denied-request-for-help-during-benghazi-attack-sources-say/#ixzz2ASUrHv9p

Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later on the annex itself was denied by the CIA chain of command -- who also told the CIA operators twice to "stand down" rather than help the ambassador's team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.

Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to "stand down."

Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights.

CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood, though, denied the claims that requests for support were turned down.
"We can say with confidence that the Agency reacted quickly to aid our colleagues during that terrible evening in Benghazi," she said. "Moreover, no one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate. In fact, it is important to remember how many lives were saved by courageous Americans who put their own safety at risk that night-and that some of those selfless Americans gave their lives in the effort to rescue their comrades."

The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours -- enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.
Watch "Special Report Investigates: Benghazi -- New Revelations" on Fox News at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, 3 p.m. on Sunday and 10 p.m. on Sunday.

A Special Operations team, or CIF which stands for Commanders in Extremis Force, operating in Central Europe had been moved to Sigonella, Italy, but they were never told to deploy. In fact, a Pentagon official says there were never any requests to deploy assets from outside the country. A second force that specializes in counterterrorism rescues was on hand at Sigonella, according to senior military and intelligence sources. According to those sources, they could have flown to Benghazi in less than two hours. They were the same distance to Benghazi as those that were sent from Tripoli. Spectre gunships are commonly used by the Special Operations community to provide close air support.

According to sources on the ground during the attack, the special operator on the roof of the CIA annex had visual contact and a laser pointing at the Libyan mortar team that was targeting the CIA annex. The operators were calling in coordinates of where the Libyan forces were firing from.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told reporters at the Pentagon on Thursday that there was not a clear enough picture of what was occurring on the ground in Benghazi to send help.

"There's a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here," Panetta said Thursday. "But the basic principle here ... is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on."

U.S. officials argue that there was a period of several hours when the fighting stopped before the mortars were fired at the annex, leading officials to believe the attack was over.

Fox News has learned that there were two military surveillance drones redirected to Benghazi shortly after the attack on the consulate began. They were already in the vicinity. The second surveillance craft was sent to relieve the first drone, perhaps due to fuel issues. Both were capable of sending real time visuals back to U.S. officials in Washington, D.C. Any U.S. official or agency with the proper clearance, including the White House Situation Room, State Department, CIA, Pentagon and others, could call up that video in real time on their computers.

Tyrone Woods was later joined at the scene by fellow former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, who was sent in from Tripoli as part of a Global Response Staff or GRS that provides security to CIA case officers and provides countersurveillance and surveillance protection. They were killed by a mortar shell at 4 a.m. Libyan time, nearly seven hours after the attack on the consulate began -- a window that represented more than enough time for the U.S. military to send back-up from nearby bases in Europe, according to sources familiar with Special Operations. Four mortars were fired at the annex. The first one struck outside the annex. Three more hit the annex.

A motorcade of dozens of Libyan vehicles, some mounted with 50 caliber machine guns, belonging to the February 17th Brigades, a Libyan militia which is friendly to the U.S., finally showed up at the CIA annex at approximately 3 a.m. An American Quick Reaction Force sent from Tripoli had arrived at the Benghazi airport at 2 a.m. (four hours after the initial attack on the consulate) and was delayed for 45 minutes at the airport because they could not at first get transportation, allegedly due to confusion among Libyan militias who were supposed to escort them to the annex, according to Benghazi sources.

The American special operators, Woods, Doherty and at least two others were part of the Global Response Staff, a CIA element, based at the CIA annex and were protecting CIA operators who were part of a mission to track and repurchase arms in Benghazi that had proliferated in the wake of Muammar Qaddafi's fall. Part of their mission was to find the more than 20,000 missing MANPADS, or shoulder-held missiles capable of bringing down a commercial aircraft. According to a source on the ground at the time of the attack, the team inside the CIA annex had captured three Libyan attackers and was forced to hand them over to the Libyans. U.S. officials do not know what happened to those three attackers and whether they were released by the Libyan forces.

Fox News has also learned that Stevens was in Benghazi that day to be present at the opening of an English-language school being started by the Libyan farmer who helped save an American pilot who had been shot down by pro-Qaddafi forces during the initial war to overthrow the regime. That farmer saved the life of the American pilot and the ambassador wanted to be present to launch the Libyan rescuer's new school.

Petraeus Throws Obama Under the Bus

6:05 PM, Oct 26, 2012 • By WILLIAM KRISTOL
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/petraeus-throws-obama-under-bus_657896.html?nopager=1

Breaking news on Benghazi: the CIA spokesman, presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus, has put out this statement: "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.

So who in the government did tell “anybody” not to help those in need? Someone decided not to send in military assets to help those Agency operators. Would the secretary of defense make such a decision on his own? No.

It would have been a presidential decision. There was presumably a rationale for such a decision. What was it? When and why—and based on whose counsel obtained in what meetings or conversations—did President Obama decide against sending in military assets to help the Americans in need?

'Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?' Biden's bizarre question angers father of Navy SEAL who died in Benghazi attack

  • VP made inappropriate comment to Charles Woods, father of SEAL Tyrone
  • Father angered by White House reaction to deadly assault in Benghazi
  • Said meeting Obama was 'like shaking hands with a dead fish'
  • Accused Hillary of not telling the truth when she linked consulate raid to anti-Muslim YouTube videoBy Hugo Gye
|

The father of one of the Navy SEALs who was killed in the Libya consulate attack has criticised the White House reaction to his son's death - especially a bizarre and obscene comment Joe Biden made to him.
Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods, said he thought Barack Obama had 'no remorse' over the attack and felt Hillary Clinton was 'not telling the truth'.
And he revealed that at the ceremony for the return of Tyrone's body, the Vice President approached his family and asked, 'Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?'
Mr Woods added that the President seemed cold and distant at the time, saying: 'Shaking hands with him, quite frankly, was like shaking hands with a dead fish.'

Mr Woods launched his blistering attack on the Obama administration during an interview with Glenn Beck on The Blaze yesterday.
Tyrone died on September 11 alongside his colleague Glen Doherty while the pair were protecting a CIA building next to the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Ambassador Chris Stevens and diplomat Sean Smith were also killed in the raid, which has become a controversial issue in next month's presidential election due to ongoing confusion over how much the administration knew about the circumstances of the attack..

Mr Woods told Mr Beck that he was disappointed by his meeting with senior officials at the event marking the return of the dead men's bodies.
He said that Mr Biden had acted inappropriately, asking the Woods family in a 'loud and boisterous' tone, 'Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?'
Mr Woods asked, 'Are these the words of someone who is sorry?'
The President, by contrast, was apparently much more subdued, to the point of coldness.
'When he finally came over to where we were, I could tell that he was rather conflicted, a person who was not at peace with himself,' Mr Woods said.
'Shaking hands with him, quite frankly, was like shaking hands with a dead fish. His face was pointed towards me but he would not look me in the eye, his eyes were over my shoulder.
'I could tell that he was not sorry. He had no remorse.'
When Mr Woods met Mrs Clinton, she made a reference to the U.S.-made YouTube video mocking the Prophet Muhammad which was originally thought to have been behind the attack.
'When she said that, I could tell that she was not telling me the truth,' he said.
His recollection of the reception differs sharply from that of Tyrone's mother, who last month took to Facebook to praise the officials who organised the event.
Writing about the repatriation of her son's body, Cheryl Croft Bennett said: 'The entire afternoon was overpowering and unreal.
'Little did I know that I would find myself in a reception room being comforted, hugged, and, yes, even kissed by the President of the United States. Along with the President, there was Vice-President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, and General and Mrs Colin Powell.
'They were all wonderful. They held my hand, offered condolences, gave warm hugs, and were extremely compassionate and genuinely sad for my loss, as I fought back tears and tried to project an image of strength to honor my SEAL son.'
Mr Woods also denounced the White House for officials' failure to protect the four Americans, saying: 'They denied the pleas for help and they watched my son die.'
In a statement he described Tyrone as 'a true American hero' who had 'voluntarily sacrificed his life to protect the lives of other Americans'.
He called for further investigation of the circumstance of the attack, concluding: 'This is an opportunity for the person or persons who made the decision to sacrifice my son's life to stand up.'
This is not the first time a parent of one of the victims has publicly spoken out against the President's handling of the tragedy.
Sean Smith's mother Pat last week slammed Obama for describing the situation as 'not optimal', telling MailOnline, 'It's insensitive to say my son is not very optimal - he is also very dead.'
She added: 'I am still waiting for the truth to come out and I still want to know the truth. I'm finally starting to get some answers but I won't give up.'
The Benghazi raid has become one of the most divisive issues in the presidential battle between Obama and his Republican opponent Mitt Romney.
GOP congressmen have accused the White House and the State Department of misleading the nation by pinning the attack on the anti-Islam video, entitled Innocence of Muslims, when there were early signs that it had been a premeditated terrorist operation.
In addition, government officials have been criticised for scaling back security in Benghazi over the summer, despite Stevens' concerns about his safety and that of his team.

Will The Leader of the U.S. Please Stand Up...Raise Your Hand...Something?

I sat up last night posting links to news stories that I was finding on the web regarding what was going on with the attack on our embassies and anything that could be tied to it. I made a long blog post of everything that I found. Today I sat and watched part of the Memorial Service and cried for our four fellow Americans and their families....I also cried for all of us. The tears were a mixture of sadness for the lives lost, and the families that will never hold their own again. They were also tears of frustration and uncertainty.

I'm 40 yrs old and since I was a young girl I have watched the news and stayed current on what was going on around us. That was one thing that my Daddy instilled in me. He always told us we needed to open our eyes and know what was going on around us and I took that to heart at a young age. As a young girl, I remember listening to the radio nonstop when John Lennon was gunned down because it was news. I was glued to the TV when Reagan was shot. When George Bush Sr was up for election I played at making up questions that I would ask if I had the opportunity. When I got older my boyfriend was in the Airforce. During Dessert Shield and Dessert Storm I went to support meetings, organized a college wide rally....I tried to find out everything I could about what was going on with the war. After we married (now divorced) and moved overseas my Patriotism grew even stronger and my desire to know about things around me grew. It's just something that is part of how I tick. I have spent nights reading about Political figures (those that I agreed with and didn't agree with) and devouring internet news as well as regular news.

In saying that, I can honestly say that I have never felt the way I feel at this very moment. I can count a few times in my life that there was a moment that stood out to me. A moment that I knew that life was changing. This feels like one of those moments. I just can't explain it. For the past few days I have watched apologies being thrown out to people who have every intention of causing as much harm and destruction as possible to our people and our interest. I have listened to blame being placed on some movie clip. What I haven't heard or seen is a hell-fire stand for our Country. I haven't seen one person in the Administration get off the fence, stop worrying about what those other countries may think, and stand up for America. We have had some dilly-dallying over the ramifications of free speech....well...I ask you..do we have free speech or not? The last I checked it was a guaranteed right in our Constitution.

We don't have time for a free speech debate. We don't have time to argue politics. I don't care if the President is Republican, Democrat or a Third Party whoever....He is supposed to be the leader of our country and by God he needs to step his butt up and start leading. I don't personally care for his politics or policy making decisions but stand up for us PLEASE. I want the security of knowing that my President will take no crap when it comes to his Country. It's kind of like a child knows that he/she is safe with their parents. My kids know that if anyone or anything threatens them, or Heaven forbid hurts one of them, there will be hell to pay. We should have that same feeling with our Administration even if we don't agree with them on policy. For the first time in my life I feel an uncertainty that I have never felt....even on 9/11. Who is leading us and where are we going? For the first time I don't know.

Democrats' Boo-God Moment Puts Black, Latino Faithful in 'Tough Place'

The DNC ran into a stumbling block when a motion by former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland to insert the words "God" and "Jerusalem" back into the Democratic Party's platform after the platform committee passed the original version omitting the words required a voice vote in the party's convention hall.
Three roll call votes were taken as the "aye" and "no" voice votes were too close to call. The amendments needed a two-thirds majority approval to pass. After it was determined that the motions passed, many booed.

Democrats Boo As God & Jerusalem Put Into Platform – Ban Christian Gift Baskets at Convention

There are many more links, but it's not hard to google because they come right up.

After seeing and hearing this vote with my own eyes and ears I was dumbfounded. Had I been in that facility I would've been looking for the closest exit, especially if I had been sitting by someone BOOING. I would not have walked down the street with anyone who had participated in all of that because I would have been fearful of lightning. Don't get me wrong I don't view myself as a pious individual. I sin everyday....no roadmap or tutorial is needed....but to blatantly shake your fist at God is not something that I could see myself doing. Some say that the BOOS were for Jerusalem and not at God, but I really don't see the difference considering that Israel is God's chosen. I have friends who are "Democrat" and are Christian. I don't judge them by what their counter-parts did, but I have to say that I fear for them. The whole guilty by association thing. To be honest I fear for us all.

Not long ago I read a book called "The Harbinger" by Johnathan Cahn. It was a real eye-opener as to the ramifications we face for our actions. Of course, it is a work of fiction, but it made me seriously think about the path that we have taken as a country. I couldn't help but take a look at the role that I have personally played in that direction because when it all comes down to it we are all responsible. There are consequences for our wrong actions just as there are blessings for our right actions. We will all have to face one or the other. With reading the book, seeing the vote of Nay, and watching as our Embassies are being attacked as I type this I'm taking even a more serious look at my life, what matters for my family and what I need to change personally.

The blessing in all of this is that I KNOW that being a child of God means that even if I may deny him in my actions, which is no different than standing up at the DNC and voting Nay, He will not deny me. He will not leave me. I belong to Him and with Him I always have a way home.

Flash mobs...coming to a location close to you???

Hanging out in parking lots, dead end roads and even renting hotel rooms to throw parties were my generation's pastime. In the town that we grew up in there was NOTHING to do other than ride the roads and move from parking lot to parking lot....listen to music and hang out. There was no "big" mischief, only typical teenage experimentation...cigarettes, cheap quart-size beer or Boone's Strawberry Hill.

Looks like the newer generation has found something "better" to do. Flash mobs! I had heard about it but never paid much attention to it until I read a couple of stories today. The incidents took place on opposite ends of the country and both involved teenage/young adults. I watched the videos. and all I can say is I pray I am nowhere with my kids when something like this takes place. I can also say with certainty that if my kids EVER participate in something like this they best make sure their face doesn't show up on youtube.

You read....judge for yourself. Harmless or potential for danger?

TROUTDALE -- A flash rob group of teens targeted a Troutdale store last weekend and investigators are trying to identify the suspects.
Investigators said as many as 40 kids entered the Albertsons store at 25691 SE Stark Street at the same time late Saturday night and started stealing things.
Raw video: Flash robbery
Security officers chased the thieves out, but no one was captured. They also left employees pretty shaken up, including one woman who was in tears after getting terrorized by the robbers.
Investigators have not said exactly how many items were taken.
"Basically it looks like they went in, just to cause chaos, which they accomplished," said Sgt. Steve Bevens with the Troutdale Police Department.
Investigators believe the suspects ranged in age from 13 to 15. They could be seen on surveillance video, roaming from aisle to aisle.
Customers said the store employees were overwhelmed and outnumbered.
"They [thieves] were bragging and laughing about how much stuff they stole and what they did in the store," one witness told KGW.
If caught, the suspects could face several charges including rioting, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
This was one of several flash rob-style robberies being investigated in the Portland Metro area over past months.
The robbers emulate the popular and peaceful flash mob gatherings now common throughout the world. Instead of synchronzied entertainment, those in a flash rob use a large gathering as a source of distraction as they commit a crime.

Saturday Night Flash Mob Takes Over Jacksonville Walmart
http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2012-07-17/story/saturday-night-flash-mob-takes-over-jacksonville-wal-mart

A huge Saturday night house party broken up by police in a North Jacksonville subdivision ended with one man shot in the leg as he and hundreds of other partygoers fled the officers' arrival.
But the party didn't stop at the home in the 12000 block of Sampson Road, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Hundreds of its teenage partyers ignited a flash mob about 90 minutes later at the Walmart Supercenter at 12100 Lem Turner Road. They took over the produce section and caused havoc that was recorded and posted on YouTube.
Officers were called just before 10 p.m. on a report of a "large house party," calling in more units to provide crowd and traffic control, according to the police report. As police were clearing the scene, an officer was alerted to a gunshot victim at Shands Jacksonville who had been shot in the right leg as he was leaving the party.
Slideshow: Mug shots around the First Coast
The 20-year-old Lem Turner Road resident told police he heard several gunshots as he reached Sampson and Percy roads, so he started running. He stumbled and fell, which is when he realized he had been shot. He said he didn't see a gun or anyone who could have shot him since "the crowd of people was so large," according to the report.
Officers at the scene as well as residents who live nearby didn't report hearing any shots.
Several hundred people who left the "massive house party" moved on to the Walmart about 11:20 p.m., and more shots were fired there, according to a second police report. Officers dispatched to the store found out that it had been mobbed, with produce being thrown.
Most of the crowd appeared to be teens on the YouTube video. The flash mob only lasts about three minutes on YouTube, but apparently lasted longer as people are seen riding in shopping carts, throwing items and mugging for the camera.
No identifiable Walmart employee is seen intervening during the video, which ends with at least one person yelling "Hey, let's go to Wendy's" in the parking lot.
Gunshots were apparently fired into the air outside the store, but no cars or people were hit, according to the police report.
A store security scanner at the front door was damaged.

Voting NO to the "O"

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.".....President John F. Kennedy

At the time that this historic statement was made by an iconic President, our country and people were a different breed. Sure there were still "good ole Washington Politicians" but America still stood for something and we were a proud people. We still had our struggles with issues regarding Cuba, Russia and Civil Rights, but we still had a moral standard that seems to have simply diminished.

When JFK spoke this historic line it was not a call for us to hand over what we have worked so hard for to someone who sits home watching the soaps, collecting a check and helping to increase the population. To me....this is a call to stand as an American and support our country and constitution.
In November I plan to do just that by voting NO to the O.

Cheesy Beef Bites...Easy Sandwich...Big Batch

Love, Love, LOVE this sandwich!! It also makes up a lot, so it would be a great recipe to fix for casual company, kid sleepovers or just to freeze individually.

What you need:

1 lb of hamburger
1 pkg of french onion soup
2 tbsp of parsley flakes
1/4 c. of water
2 packs of hamburger buns (I got 12 sandwiches out of 1 lb of hamburger)
At least 2 c. shredded cheese (I didn't measure mine)

Before we get started let me first say that the original recipe called for french bread, but I found using hamburger buns to be better for us. This is a great recipe to use left over hamburger buns and hot dog buns....it's just a matter of preference.

While your hamburger meat is cooking, pull your bread of choice out. You want to "hollow-out" the thickest part of your bread which is the top portion on buns.

Once your hamburger meat is fully cooked, drain the grease. Then add the packet of French Onion Soup Mix, two tablespoons of parsley and 1/4 c. of water. Make sure the burner is on low and stir really good. Now all you do is fill the "hollowed out" portion of your bread with the meat mixture.

Then sprinkle with your choice of cheese....Monterrey is fabulous, but I only had cheddar/Monterrey mix

Wrap it nice and neatly......

Pop these babies in the oven for about 10 min on 350 degrees and ENJOY!!!!

Crockpot Italian Chicken

I got this recipe off of Pinterest and it is DIVINE!!!

6 chicken breasts
1 packet Zesty Italian dressing seasoning
8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
2 cans cream of chicken soup

Cook on low for 4 hours. If sauce is too thick, add a little milk. Serve over pasta.

I used the corkscrew rotini, but pick what you like. Throw some garlic bread in the oven and Whamo!!!

Easy Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti

I almost made myself SICK off this stuff. It was soo easy to make and it makes a ton so you can freeze some of it for later.

What you need:

6 boneless skinless chicken breast
2 cans of cream of chicken
2 cans of rotel
1 large block of velveeta
1 box of angel hair pasta

I used my crockpot. Put the chicken, cream of chicken, rotel in crockpot to cook. I put mine in frozen on high for several hours. When the chicken is done and it's falling apart....cut up your velveeta and add. Once the cheese is melted this part is ready. I then cooked my pasta and added the contents to the cooked pasta. Now I realize that most people put this in the oven, but we didn't. We ate it as soon as we mixed the contents. Leftovers the next day were even better!!

If you want to freeze a portion of it then get some pans, line them with plastic wrap, put the spaghetti in cover with plastic and put in freezer. Give it about a day to freeze then remove it from freezer. Take out of dish, make sure it's wrapped well in plastic wrap then wrap it with aluminum foil and label.

Apple Dump Cake

I prefer stuff like this for breakfast with my coffee AS WELL AS DESSERT!!

This is what you need:

Yellow box cake
2 cans of apple pie filling
About two sticks of butter

Pour the apple filling in a dish
Pour dry cake mix over the top of the filling....make sure the little "rocks" are broken up
Take a stick of butter and start cutting small slabs of butter and covering all of the dry batter

Bake at 350

You can alter this recipe....instead of using apple pie filling....use a can of blueberry filling and a can of crushed pineapple. THIS is divine!!!

Egg Muffins

This is a great, quick way to cook ahead for breakfast and great for the family on the go.

What you'll need:

Muffin Pan
Eggs
Shredded Cheese
Ham, Bacon, Sausage...your choice

Set oven on 350 degrees.
Scramble your eggs in a bowl
Lightly oil your muffin pan and fill each about half full.
You can then add cheese, meat or meats of your choice
You can also add other stuff like salsa....get creative

Put in the oven and bake until light golden brown. There'll be no doubt that they are ready. You can set these out to cool then put in the freezer so that you have them weeks in advance.

I put a ziploc bag full of these in the refrigerator and they were gone by mid week. I plan to make several bags of these to have in frig and freezer....especially when school starts

Open Letter...

Dear Mr./Mrs. Legislator, Educator, Principal, Guidance Counselor or Anyone who will listen...

Do you have children, grandchildren, neices or nephews? Could you imagine picking them up from school and asking them about their day only to be met with downcast eyes or tears because once again they failed that test (very badly) that they studied so hard for? What about having to repeatedly try to convince he or she that they are not dumb or stupid? These are only mild scenarios compared to what we, parents of dyslexic children, go through here in MS.

Our children hold great promise, but their ambition has been quickly tainted by their inability to compete and/or perform in the classroom because they are unable to produce results in the way it is expected. Our kids can not participate adequatley in the classroom because they are not playing on an even playing field.

As parents we have called teachers, principals and guidance counselors asking for help only to be told "Mississippi doesn't recognize dyslexia as a learning disability....there's nothing we can do." Many times that is the end of the conversation. There are no offers of even helping us find help. We are left on our own to keep our children in the game, when they want nothing more than to give up.

If Mississippi is concerned about literacy, then we as a state should take a very proactive approach towards Literacy and early interventions involving all forms of Dyslexia. It is very unrealistic to expect our children to perform well on state mandated tests when they look at a one page vocabulary test and watch words and letters run all over the page. Should our children be punished with bad marks because they can't match twenty vocabulary words on paper, but if split up they can match five at a time? Should they be punished because they experience multi-sensory overload? Right now they are.

We are begging anyone who will listen....please help our children. If you are a legislator can you help us with the law? If you are an educator and you recognize signs of dyslexia can you educate a parent on avenues that they may take to get help? If you are a guidance counselor, principal or pyschometrist could you offer other avenues for a parent to explore in order to advocate for their child instead of just shutting them down with "MS doesn't recognize dyslexia...."

Our kids have a future and they have dreams. They should count.

Mississippi, Dyslexia and What I Just Learned

For the past five years I have watched my son struggle with his studies and try to keep him from giving up. I have heard him say "I'm stupid." or "I'm dumb" more times than I can count. He refers to people who do well in school as "those smart people" while lumping himself in the group of "zeroes". I have comforted him when he got in the car to tell me he was one of two people left in the bleachers at the Award's Day Banquet. It didn't matter that he had won Science Fair or placed at District....he was still left in the stands....alone...with no award because he didn't hit that all A or A/B Honor Roll. No matter how hard I have tried to drill into his head that he IS smart and that he is NOT a looser....it just doesn't seem to take. When I explain to him that HIS 100% is good even if it's a C or D (depending on the class) he can't grasp it because it's not the 100% that is expected from whoever. Let's face it....everyone's 100% is different but my son has learned at an early age that it is not.

When he was young we knew that this child was more energetic than normal. In fact, there is no candy-coating it. He was WILD. No matter what we did he could not focus on anything more than a few seconds and he was wide open until he literally passed out.

When he got to kindegarden I repeatedly told his teacher that I was concerned because he "didn't get" the site words. He couldn't remember them. He wrote sloppy and backwards. We got to first grade and again it was a nightmare. He couldn't retain anything and again I was concerned, but I was again told it would work out. During this time we decided to have him tested at our own expense in order to speed up the process of getting him help. He was diagnosed with ADHD and I brought all of that paperwork back to the school and was led to believe we were heading down the right road.

Second grade.....we saw a little improvement because we tried medication as a last alternative, but this year there was so much more that he was responsible for. His spelling grade was anywhere between 0 to 17, with 17 being the highest. He couldn't read. I repeatedly talked to the teacher and begged for help. I asked her if his spelling words could be cut in half like the previous year. We got nowhere because she said, "I have half a class scoring the same and I can't do it for them." You would think that would tell you there was a problem?? But, hey, I'm just worried about my kid at this point.

We scheduled a meeting and looking back I'm thinking that maybe this was a TST meeting? It consisted of the Principal, Psychommetrist, his teacher, other teachers and myself. Now remember, I work for the school district but have no clue what TST is, how it works.....nothing! I thought I was going to get help from my son in this meeting, but boy was I wrong. In hindsight I wish I had taken someone with me as a witness. After listening to my concerns they looked at test scores, which were not good. I told them that I really thought he may be dyslexic, but I was quickly told that MS didn't recognize Dyslexia as a reading disability and even if I DID get a diagnosis they would not make any accomodations for him based on that diagnosis. At that point the Principal, being very frustrated said.....AND I QUOTE "I don't know anything else to do other than put him back in first grade!" I absolutely thought I was going die. I could not believe what I was hearing. They seemed so frustrated and "out-done" with my baby like he was a burden! I quickly told her that would kill his self esteem. She very quickly told me....and again I quote..."You need to decide what's more important, his self esteem or his achievement!" After much discussion they decided that they would have him tutored with first graders and just see what happened. I left there in tears and went straight to Central Office and asked to have him moved to another school. After telling them we would sale our home and get an apartment in the other school zone we got our transfer. Imagine our suprise when they pulled him the first day at his new school and said he had strong dyslexic tendancies and was placed in the Texas Scottish Rites Program!! What we found out was that this program was only offered at certain schools so we were lucky we got him transferred to a school that had it. I still wonder why they did not tell me in that meeting that this program was available since I very clearly brought up the issue of dyslexia? The Psychometrist had to know it was there!

When we got our transfer, we were very fortunate to get a fine teacher who sat down with us and set goals for our child. We agreed that we had every intention of holding him back and that we would all focus on progress and not grades. When he started 2nd grade he read on a Pre-K level. At the end of the year he was on a 1st grade level. He gave up time during the summer to go to Knowledge College and again showed a lot of improvement. With a lot of hard work he finished Texas Scottish Rites but in third grade we hit another pothole. The medication that he was taking had built up in his system and he was no longer able to take it. Because of an underlying health issue we were afraid to try anything else so we went with no meds. He struggled and fought through 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Home life was a nightmare. It's hard to get a kid motivated when he thinks he's dumb. When he does give it all he has and still fails....he sees no point in trying.

So now we are in 6th grade and worried sick about him. No idea how he will make it in Junior High, but I will say that this has by far been his best year as far as teachers. I am in no way knocking any of his past teachers, because they have all been good, but this year he has a teacher who "gets him." She sees his struggle and seems to know how he ticks. She recognizes that HIS 100% is not the same as the kid sitting in front of him. When we get excited over a C she understands that we aren't settling.....it's because that C for him is the equivalent of an A on everyone elses playing field.

I have been working at the same school my children attend for the past two years. I just found out about the 504 Plan and we were so excited that we may have found a way to level the playing field for him. We have his diagnosis for ADHD and with that we are hoping that some accomodations can be made that may inadvertantly help with his Dyslexia. Maybe by doing this he can go into the classroom and finally have an educational experience that is the equivalent of running across a field instead of trying to run wide open up a cliff. Thank God I wasn't holding my breath because I wouldv'e died.....I was told that the diagnosis in his file is no longer acceptable because it's too old so we have to start all over, fork out more money to go back to the Doctors and get re-diagnosed. Frustration is not even touching what I'm feeling right now.

So here we are.....back to square one. I'm frustrated beyond tears, but I can't show it. Not to him. I have to be his rock. He has to know that his Mama BELIEVES that he can get a fair shake because if his Mama doesn't believe why should he?

There are some serious questions and issues that need to be addressed. I want to know why I went through the expense of having him tested and getting the diagnosis if it wasn't used. I was told that they don't just automatically do something with an ADHD diagnosis. If that's the case why did I go get it and bring it to them to get help? If I needed to once again ask for help with the diagnosis in hand, why didn't someone tell me? All the times that I spent on the phone talking to the teachers.....did it count for anything? Why wasn't the 504 Plan suggested? I'm also concerned with the fact that we can no longer afford tutors to work through TST interventions so the kids are being buddied up with another student for tutoring. Has anyone stopped to think what this does to some of the kids? I understand that it has worked in some instances, but I can very confidently say that my 6th grader would have been humiliated beyond words. I am very grateful that he is able to work with an adult but what about the other kids? And the ones who aren't humiliated...do they take it serious working with another kid? If parents are to get involved they need to know what avenues are available. If the law allows different options then parents need to be made aware when they are struggling with their kid. A kid shouldn't have to fail to get help. We need EARLY intervention BEFORE they fail.

I recently called the MSDOE and found out that the statement "Mississippi does not recognize Dyslexia" is not a completely accurate statement. Our state does recognize it, but it does not recognize it as a criteria for a 504 Plan etc. Most kids who have Dyslexia also have another condition that DOES qualify them for a plan such as ADD or ADHD. I also found out that the state has grant money specifically to help school districts work with dyslexia. All we have to do is apply and that money has been available since around 1995....4 years before our son was even born!!! So why are we not trying to get this funding? If we want our kids to score high on all of these tests then they have to be able to read them. If the words are running together or running all over a one page vocabulary test, or if a one page test causes a sensory overload.....those test booklets are going to be a nightmare. Our kids need to be given the skills to cope and learn to work with what they have so that they can excel. They deserve that opportunity.

I won't stop fighting for my son. I believe in him and I know he is smart. I hope that because he has experienced what it's like to have a teacher believe in him that it will help keep him in the game. I hope that it will be enough. At the rate things are going we may not get help until it's too late. I don't want that for him. I want him to enjoy his childhood and education is a major part of his childhood.

Our loss...

Tonight I have finally decided to sit down and write down my thoughts about what has happened to our family over the weekend. We just returned from Rusty's house and I was relieved to see how well he was holding up. I don't think that I could be as strong, but I guess you never know how strong you are until you face something. We, as Sandersons, come from a strong stock.

Look at Mamaw Great....how many children and grandchildren and even g-grandchildren did she bury before she went home to gather them all in her arms? Through her grief she always held her head high and handled it with a quiet grace. I saw that tonight with my cousins. We have all faced our difficulties as we have grown up and raised our children. There are so many people in our family that I can think of that I would like to be like. I wish so badly that my children had the priviledge of growing up like we did....all together.... so that they could enjoy and lean on each other in the future.

I watched John John's Step-Dad speak to Channel 16 news last night and I have never met the man, but he handled the interview with a stregnth and dignity that should make us all proud as a family. I know that it had to have been hard on him answering the questions....it was very visible. God Bless him for handling it the way he did. Who would want to talk to the media at this time? I wouldn't....he did and it allowed that burden to be lifted from Rusty and Debra's shoulders.

They say that something positive can come from horrible experiences. I can't say that I can see anything positive coming from this. It was senseless and unneccessary. Parents and Grandparents shouldn't have to bury their babies. I truly pray that justice....HARD justice...is served.

I can say that once again I'm so proud of my family. It's just another example of how truly special our family is. 2nd, 3rd cousins....means nothing.....a cousin is a cousin. Aunt, Great Aunt....means nothing....an Aunt is an Aunt. Saw you last week....last year....or 10 yrs ago....doesn't matter. I still love you like I saw you yesterday. And when something happens we all come together....no matter the distance or the time apart.

For me, I remember a precious little boy named John John playing in the yard with Adam and my son Chris....all full of mischief and each one 100% boy. I know that Mamaw and Papaw Great were waiting on him with open arms and although we all hurt.....all is well with him.

RIP John John...you will always be loved and never forgotten.

Furniture, Paint and Me....Oh Dear!

I've been so motivated (and obviously totally naive of my own abilities) after looking at "Pinterest". I decided that I was going to give Kayla Grace's room a makeover and planned it with the website. I figured since we are moving in a few days and we were off today....it would be the perfect time to paint. I mean how hard could it be??

We took off to town and came home armed with 15 cans of white spray paint. I was doing the spray paint dance....Kayla Grace was making up songs about painting furniture. We were so excited. We even got Brayden in on all the fun and he helped us move all the furniture outside. I am now reporting that after fighting with two kids who wanted to "help" (the fun ended quickly), after knocking the sprayer off of 2 cans of paint while trying to open them, and after having gobs of paint run down the furniture I have succesfully ruined her bedroom suit.

I quickly realized that I was doing something wrong when there were lots of beads of white rolling down the sides. Figured I was too close and fixed it only to find that my dear son decided to help and one side of her dresser is nothing but lines and beads. She decided to get in on the action and help "fix" the beads with a paint brush which now leaves us beads and streaks on top of bubbles from God knows where.

I gave up....frustrated...tired...aggravated....grabbed the dog and took a nap. It will go in her room as is....even with some brown spots showing through. Mama says we should strip it but HA!! not happening in the near future. We will just start our own style....funky furniture.
